Fables of La Fontaine. Vol. I

Abstract

This pair of volumes repeats, in large part, a lovely single volume I found thirty years ago. The big difference, besides the price, is that that volume really did include illustrations from Grandville. The Grandville illustrations mentioned on the title-page here are apparently the title-pages for each book. There are none of the exquisite Grandville illustrations of specific fables. The pages are in fact identical, though these pages have smaller margins all around. The spine shows some chipping. The page edges and the covers are beautifully marbled. Internally both volumes seem fine.
