Remark:
The title-page lists Aesop, Lessing, Gleim, La Fontaine, Curtmann "und vielen Anderen." The title-page also specifies that this selection is made "for youth." The three internal polychrome illustrations are on 32, 64, and 96: "A Traveler and Zeus"; "Rooster, Dog, and Fox"; and TB, respectively. The last is the most engaging of the three, particularly the depiction of the mustached traveler with knee socks striding a tree branch. "A Traveler and Zeus" (27) is new to me. A traveler complains heavily to Zeus about the rainy weather. Soon enough he faces a robber with a bow and arrow, who shoots toward the traveler and would pierce his heart, except that the rain changes the arrow's flight. There is no T of C or attribution of specific texts or stories to specific authors. Prose and verse are mixed. The paste-on polychrome illustration on the cover presents a wide assortment of animals in an outdoor setting without humans.
