I got only about halfway into this book. It is described both as a fable and as an American novella. The plotline opens with the author discovering and caring for two kittens. After some time, they start revealing things to him. The blurb on the back cover promises this: Satirical as well as allegorical, in the tradition of the great fabulists, Aesop and La Fontaine, it is narrated in the contemporary setting of a comfortable country home. I did not yet find the Aesop or La Fontaine. Perhaps I will get further into it in my next reading.en_US
